More Backing For Bingo Tax Rule

The Government is being urged more and more regarding the bingo tax. Now the House of Commons speaker MP John Bercow has joined in with the support surrounding the tax issue.
The rise in bingo tax has recently risen from 15 per cent to 22 per cent, and Bercow along with other MPs are trying to get the tax ruling reduced so players can join in, in a fair game.
The bingo tax has been hugely responsible for the closure of bingo halls and only last week Gala Bingo announced over 170 job losses.
Mecca Bingo is also feeling the struggle and has been very opinionated about the governments ruling. The Chief Executive of Mecca Bingo said: The support we have received from all parties shows the strength of feeling about what the Government is doing to bingo. It’s good to see that our new speaker believes in fair play too.’
Mecca also recently won a tribunal case where they can charge a lower tax for games played in the intervals.
The tax rise is also why online bingo has become more popular. It is only 15 per cent to play bingo online but 22 per cent to play in bingo halls.
