Wink Bingo has announced the signing of a sponsorship deal with the brand new ITV1 game show, The Cube. Hosted by Phillip Schofield, the show airs every Saturday night at 8.15pm in the time slot following the successful X Factor reality series.

This is not a first for Wink Bingo having sponsored the show Family Fortunes in the previous year. The Cube aired its first episode on Saturday, 22nd of August and managed to attract an audience of 5.52 million, approximately equivalent to 26.7% of TV viewers in Britain. In comparison, the X Factor received 9.9 million views – that’s 47.9%.
Wink Bingo’s commercials appear before and after each break in the show, featuring a kitten trying to complete similar challenges to those on The Cube with bingo balls.

5.52 million viewers for their first airing is definitely a positive achievement for Wink Bingo, but the real benefits will most likely only appear in the long run. Sponsoring the prime time ITV show is quite an investment which might not necessarily have its returns. Of course, sponsorship would mean exposure of the brand to an even wider audience, but whether it will get these viewers to log on and  play bingo still remains uncertain.

Wink Bingo is the second online bingo room in the UK to sponsor a TV show. Foxy Bingo is the main sponsor for the Jeremy Kyle show following Learndirect’s decision to axe its sponsorship amid previous controversy surrounding the programme.

BingoNews.info is hoping that Wink Bingo's sponsorship deal with The Cube will bring even more bingo fans to this online bingo room, as well as a considerable number of new players.
